A Moving Essay

Each member of each team must go to the Library a write an essay about the things they feel most passionate about. They have three hours and there is no word count requirement. They can wonder freely in the Library and talk to anyone there. For this challenge, Mentors are allowed to be approached by the contestants, although they may not directly write anything for them.
Once the third hour is up, each contestant must read their essay aloud to the Judges and to everyone. The goal is to move the Judges; make them truly feel for you. When everyone has read aloud, the Judges will be left to deliberate. One winner must be determined, civilly or not.
To the winner, immunity, as well as one gallon (to be shared among the team) of a magical potion called the Juice of Bliss; the smallest sip will elevate the lowest of moods, if only for a day.

Wednesday, May 5th
Each Team is trapped in a room with a lovely Sphinx and a ticking clock. This is a fast challenge, but a nerve-wracking one. You have ten minutes to solve the Sphinx’s three riddles. All the while, the floor slowly vanishes, revealing a drop to icy water below. Answer the Sphinx correctly and the exit will open.
Thursday, May 6th
An obstacle course is laid out before the Teams and they must all race toward the finish line. There are four different stages to this race. First, a climb up a steep cliff with very few footholds. Second, atop the plateau, a quick dash over a pit of fiery hot coals. Third, a dip in a turbulent river and a struggle to make it to the other side. And finally, a leap of faith off a steep precipice to the narrow platform below and the home run to the finish line. Whichever Team crosses the finish line first will win.

Taken deep into the forest, the Teams are met again with the Sphinx. She guards a rocky cave. All the Teams compete at once to attempt to remove her from her spot and reveal what she hides within. But, the Sphinx is a mighty and frightening creature, especially when threatened. How will you ever deal with such an imposing force?
To the Winner: They will be Always In Tune. This magical blessing allows all members of this Team to draw energy from all living things in this world. They will feel physically and mentally rejuvenated in the presence of happy and/or healthy living things. They will also gain a small health boost by touching such living things: minor injuries (bruises, small cuts, ect) will be able to be healed using this blessing.
To the Loser: The Curse of Sloth. This curse drains the vitality of the Team afflicted with it. They will require more hours of sleep and once they have fallen into their slumber, they will be closed off from the outside world and be very hard to awaken. In their waking hours, those cursed may feel lethargic and gloomy.
